Riders get Camilla’s best wishes

Every country wants to see their athletes bring home the gold in the Olympics. Why should England be any different?
That may have been the impetus behind Camilla Parker Bowles and her meeting with English Olympic equestrians shortly before they left for Beijing in July.
Of course it may also have had to do with the fact that Bowles is a patron for the British Equestrian Foundation (BEF), which sponsors and trains the champion equestrians and sends them on their way to the Olympics every four years. The riders enjoyed light drinks and entertainment while Bowles mingled between them, chatting idly and wishing them all luck.
Unfortunately the wishes didn’t bring them TOO much luck. Out of five events they won only two bronzes. Better than nothing, to be sure, but proooobably not as much as Bowles would have liked. Ah well.
